Are guest books on personal websites making a comeback?

I've noticed more and more people, usually developers and tech nerds, adding a guestbook to their personal websites. First, if building a personal website is becoming more common, that would be amazing. I love that "small web" vibe. Second, the guestbook idea is awesome.
