Modern social media has become exhausting. Between engagement-farming bots, endless algorithmic doom-scrolling, and feeds designed to maximize outrage, finding authentic discussions feels harder than ever. A few months ago, I asked myself a simple question: What if we had a calm, community-first space where conversations are chronological, transparent, and free from rage-bait algorithms? That question led me to build FondPeace (fondpeace.com) as a solo developer. What Makes FondPeace Different? Instead of copying mainstream platforms, I wanted to combine the depth of long-form forum discussions with the simplicity of modern micro-feeds: Chronological & Interest-Based Discovery: No black-box algorithms forcing viral junk into your feed. What you see is determined by freshness and genuine community topics. SearchBro (Built-in Discovery): An internal lightweight discovery system to find discussions and creators without data-tracking. Creator Utilities: Included native micro-tools (like an image compressor and short-form video integration) to make posting frictionless. 4. Zero Data Brokerage: Built with respect for user privacy without third-party tracking cookies. The Tech Stack & Challenges Building a multi-format platform as a solo developer was an intense learning experience: Frontend & UI: Clean, responsive interface focusing on speed and minimal distractions. Backend Architecture: Handled real-time discussions, dynamic feeds, and media processing. - The Biggest Challenge: Solving the cold-start problem and building a video/shorts delivery pipeline that didn't crash on mobile devices.
